Choose Sprout Social if you are a team running social media as an operation: publishing across networks, a shared inbox, engagement, approvals and reporting, with someone to bill it to. It is priced per seat, from $79 a seat a month billed annually, so it is built for organisations rather than solo creators. Choose Reel Intel if you are one person, or a small business, whose actual problem is that you cannot tell which content is working: it reads your Reels in depth and hands you the next month of posts. They barely compete. Sprout runs the operation. Reel Intel makes the decision.
So which one should you pick?
The clearest test is how many people need to be in the tool. Sprout Social's value lives in collaboration: everyone sees the same inbox, the same calendar and the same reports, and approvals happen in the platform. That is worth real money when there are several people involved. If it is just you and your account, you would be paying per seat for machinery nobody else is using.
- Pick Sprout Social if you are a team that publishes across networks, answers comments and DMs, and needs approvals and client-ready reporting
- Pick Reel Intel if you are one person who needs to know which formats, hooks and topics to post next, and why
- Mind the pricing model: Sprout is per seat, so three users cost three times the entry price; Reel Intel is a flat monthly price per account
- Sprout's entry plan starts at $79 a seat a month billed annually, with no free plan and a 30-day trial
- Reel Intel's Discover plan is free, reads your own account in depth, and needs no card

The honest case for Sprout Social
Sprout Social is the more capable platform, and on a team's job it is not close. A shared inbox means nobody answers the same comment twice. Approvals mean a post cannot go out without sign-off. Reporting spans profiles, groups and paid activity, and the upper plans integrate with helpdesk and CRM systems, so social can be wired into the rest of the business. Add listening, review management and message-level alerting and you have an operations platform, not a dashboard.
If you are an agency, a multi-brand team, or a company with a social function that several people touch, that is worth paying per seat for. We would not try to talk you out of it. What we would say is that none of it answers the question a creator asks at 9pm the night before filming: what should I actually post?
Operating social is not deciding what to post
Sprout Social will tell you how your posts performed, how your audience engaged, and how your numbers compare with competitors on the plans that include competitive reports. It will not read the Reels behind those numbers and tell you which format, hook and topic to repeat. That is a content question, and platforms built for operations treat content as something you supply, not something they advise on.
We checked that gap against 41 Instagram accounts and found 88% post most on a topic that is not their best performer. The effort goes into the weakest content and the strongest gets starved. No amount of reporting surfaces that on its own, because it is a property of the content itself, not of the totals. Reel Intel reads up to 100 of your Reels and up to 100 of each account you track, classifies each one, and turns the pattern into 30 Days of Posts with the hook and format for each one.
You can run the machine perfectly and still film the wrong thing. Those are two different problems, and only one of them is solved by a better dashboard.
What Reel Intel is not
- Not a team platform. There is no shared inbox, no roles, no approval chain and no client workspace
- Not a scheduler or publisher. Nothing goes out automatically; you post it yourself
- Not multi-network. It reads Instagram Reels, not X, LinkedIn, Pinterest or YouTube
- Not a listening tool. There is no keyword or brand monitoring, and no review management
- Not an enterprise contract. It is self-serve, with no calls required and no onboarding project
Discover, Compare, Dominate, Conquer and Custom
- Discover reads your own account from every angle: your real benchmarks, and the formats, hooks and topics that win for you ranked by views.
- Compare tracks one account you choose in detail: how you stack up on views and reach, and the gaps behind their best Reels.
- Dominate tracks up to three and turns it all into 30 Days of Posts, with the hook and format for each one.
- Conquer tracks up to ten accounts, so you can see who is winning across your market and where it is heading next.
- Custom tracks every account you want, with a 1:1 onboarding call and priority support.
Discover: reads your own account in depth. Compare (£25 a month): adds one account you track. Dominate (£49 a month): tracks up to three and adds the full four-week plan. Conquer (£99 a month): tracks up to ten. Custom (£199 a month): tracks every account you want, with a 1:1 onboarding call. See the full breakdown on how it works or the plans and pricing.
Sprout Social and Reel Intel, answered
Is Sprout Social worth it for a small business?
It depends on whether you are buying for a team or for one person. Sprout Social is priced per seat, so its entry plan costs the same for one user as it does for one of five, and the platform is built around publishing, a shared inbox, engagement and reporting. A single creator or a small business posting Reels to sell is usually paying for a lot of team machinery they will not use. A team running several brands, several networks and a customer inbox gets real value from it.
How is Reel Intel different from Sprout Social?
Sprout Social is a platform for running social media as a team: scheduling, publishing, a shared inbox, engagement and reporting. Reel Intel is a single-purpose tool that reads your Instagram Reels in depth and tells you which formats, hooks and topics to post next. Sprout answers how the team should operate. Reel Intel answers what to make.
Is Reel Intel a Sprout Social alternative?
Only if what you actually need is the decision rather than the suite. If you need a shared inbox, approvals, publishing across networks and team reporting, Reel Intel is not an alternative to Sprout Social and we would not pretend to be. If what you need is to know what to post next, Reel Intel does that job for a fraction of a per-seat platform.
Why is Sprout Social priced per seat?
Because it is sold to teams. The pricing reflects collaboration: a shared inbox, approval workflows, roles and permissions, reporting across many profiles, and integrations with helpdesk and CRM systems. Those features only make sense when several people work in the same account, which is why the cost scales with the number of people rather than the number of posts.
Stop guessing. Post what works. Your own Reels already know what to post next. Our AI reads them and hands you the plan.
