Reel Intel vs Metricool

One of these schedules and reports across every network. The other tells you what to post next. They are not the same job, and picking depends on which one you are actually missing.

TL;DR

Choose Metricool if you want to schedule and publish posts, run reports across every network, and keep an eye on competitor numbers. It is strong value, and its free plan is genuinely usable. Choose Reel Intel if the thing you cannot answer is what to make next: it reads your Instagram Reels in depth and ranks the formats, hooks and topics to post, then builds the month. If you want both, run both. They do not overlap.

The short answer

So which one should you pick?

Ask yourself which sentence describes your problem. "I have no time to schedule and report on everything" is a Metricool problem. "I keep posting and I still cannot tell which content is working" is a Reel Intel problem. The two get confused because both are called Instagram tools, but one is about running the machine and the other is about deciding what goes into it.

  • Pick Metricool if you manage several networks, publish on a schedule, and want one dashboard of stats and reports
  • Pick Reel Intel if you post Reels to sell something and need to know which formats, hooks and topics to make next
  • Metricool's free plan is real: one brand, 20 posts a month, 30 days of analytics and five competitor profiles
  • Reel Intel's Discover plan is free and reads your own account in depth, with no card
  • Run both if you want the scheduler and the decision: they answer different questions and nothing overlaps

Where Metricool wins

The honest case for Metricool

Metricool is a good product and worth saying so plainly. Its free plan is more generous than most: a brand, 20 scheduled posts a month, 30 days of analytics and five competitor profiles, without paying anything. Starter, from €16 a month billed yearly, raises that to up to 100 competitor profiles, unlimited publishing, unlimited analytics history, PDF and slide reports and an inbox. Advanced adds team and client management, roles and approval workflows, which is exactly what an agency needs.

If your job is to run publishing for several accounts across several networks, and to hand a client a tidy report at the end of the month, Metricool does that well and cheaply. We are not going to pretend otherwise. On that job, it is the better buy.

The gap

Numbers about rivals are not a decision

Here is the line between the two tools. Metricool will show you a tracked account's followers, reach and engagement, and it will show you yours beside them. That is a scoreboard. What it will not do is read the actual Reels behind those numbers, work out which formats, hooks, topics and lengths are producing the reach, and rank them into what you should film next.

That difference is not academic. We analysed 41 Instagram accounts and found 88% post most on a topic that is not their best performer. They work hardest on their weakest content and starve their strongest, and no dashboard makes that visible, because the answer is not in the totals. It is in the content. Reading every Reel is the only way the pattern shows up.

Reel Intel does not schedule, publish, run ads or manage an inbox. It reads up to 100 of your Reels and up to 100 of each account you track, classifies each one across format, hook, emotional trigger, CTA, length, topic and audio, and turns the pattern into the next month of posts. That is the whole product.

The limits

What Reel Intel is not

  • Not a scheduler. Nothing goes out automatically. You still post, or you use a scheduler like Metricool to post
  • Not a publisher. There is no calendar of queued posts waiting to go live
  • Not multi-network. It reads Instagram Reels. It is not a tool for X, LinkedIn or Pinterest
  • Not an ads or inbox tool. No campaign management, no comment inbox, no approval workflows
  • Not a client-reporting suite. There are no white-label PDFs to hand to a client
What you get

Discover, Compare, Dominate, Conquer and Custom

  • Discover reads your own account from every angle: your real benchmarks, and the formats, hooks and topics that win for you ranked by views.
  • Compare tracks one account you choose in detail: how you stack up on views and reach, and the gaps behind their best Reels.
  • Dominate tracks up to three and turns it all into 30 Days of Posts, with the hook and format for each one.
  • Conquer tracks up to ten accounts, so you can see who is winning across your market and where it is heading next.
  • Custom tracks every account you want, with a 1:1 onboarding call and priority support.

Discover: reads your own account in depth. Compare (£25 a month): adds one account you track. Dominate (£49 a month): tracks up to three and adds the full four-week plan. Conquer (£99 a month): tracks up to ten. Custom (£199 a month): tracks every account you want, with a 1:1 onboarding call. See the full breakdown on how it works or the plans and pricing.

Common questions

Metricool and Reel Intel, answered

Is Metricool or Reel Intel better?

They do different jobs, so neither is better in the abstract. Metricool is a social media management suite: it schedules and publishes posts across every network, reports on performance and tracks competitor numbers. Reel Intel does one narrower job: it reads your Instagram Reels in depth and tells you which formats, hooks and topics to post next. If you need to run publishing across networks, choose Metricool. If you need the decision, choose Reel Intel.

Can Metricool tell me what to post next?

Metricool reports what already happened, across your accounts and the competitor profiles you track. That is a strong overview, but it stops at the numbers. It does not read the content of those posts and turn it into a ranked decision about your next post, which is the job Reel Intel exists to do.

Do I still need Metricool if I use Reel Intel?

Often yes, and plenty of people run both. Metricool handles scheduling, publishing and cross-network reporting. Reel Intel handles the question neither a scheduler nor a dashboard answers: what to make next. Reel Intel does not schedule or publish anything, so if you want posts to go out automatically you still need a tool that does that.

Does Reel Intel schedule posts?

No. Reel Intel does not schedule, publish or manage ads, and it does not replace a scheduler. It reads your Reels, works out what is driving your views, and hands you the formats, hooks and topics to post next. You still post them yourself, or through whatever scheduler you already use.

Stop guessing. Post what works. Your own Reels already know what to post next. Our AI reads them and hands you the plan.
