Reel Intel vs Later

Later is where you lay out the grid and schedule the posts. Reel Intel is where you decide what those posts should be. Different jobs, and most people who use one still need the other.

TL;DR

Choose Later if you want the visual planner: drag posts into a grid, schedule them, see how they did, and keep a link in bio in the same place. It is the reference product for planning Instagram content, and it is honest about its limits, with no free plan and a 14-day trial. Choose Reel Intel if the thing you cannot answer is what to film: it reads your Reels in depth and ranks the formats, hooks and topics that are actually producing your views. If you want both, use Reel Intel to decide and Later to publish. Nothing overlaps.

The short answer

So which one should you pick?

Later starts from the assumption that you already know what you are posting, and gives you a better place to plan and publish it. Reel Intel starts one step earlier and assumes you do not, and works out what the content should be from what has already performed on your account. If you have ever sat in front of an empty grid with a camera and no idea what to film, that is the gap.

  • Pick Later if you want visual grid planning, scheduling, a link in bio and post-level analytics in one place
  • Pick Reel Intel if you want to know which formats, hooks and topics to make next, ranked by your real views
  • Later has no free plan: a 14-day trial, then Starter at $25 a month monthly, or $18.75 a month billed yearly
  • Watch the post cap: Starter allows 30 posts per profile per month and three months of analytics history
  • Use both if you want the decision and the publishing: Reel Intel decides, Later schedules

Where Later wins

The honest case for Later

Later does the visual side better than almost anything else, and that is not a small thing. Seeing a month of posts laid out as a grid, before any of it goes live, is how a lot of people catch a run of near-identical posts they would otherwise have published. Scheduling is reliable, the link in bio is bundled rather than sold separately, and the analytics show how each post performed.

If you post across Instagram, TikTok and Pinterest and you want one place to plan and publish, Later is a reasonable buy, and its entry price is competitive with schedulers that do less. On the planning and publishing job, it is the better tool. We are not going to argue otherwise.

The gap

A plan for the grid is not a reason for the post

Here is the line. Later will hold your posts, publish them on time, and show you what each one did. What it will not do is tell you why one Reel beat another, or which of the formats, hooks and topics in your account is worth repeating. Its competitor benchmarking sits on the top tier and reports numbers, not content.

That distinction matters more than it sounds. We analysed 41 Instagram accounts and found 88% post most on a topic that is not their best performer. Most accounts work hardest on the content that performs worst and starve the content that performs best, and a grid view cannot show it, because the pattern lives in the content, not in the layout. Reel Intel reads up to 100 of your Reels and up to 100 of each account you track, classifies each one across format, hook, trigger, CTA, length, topic and audio, and turns the result into 30 Days of Posts with the hook and format for each one.

A beautiful grid of the wrong posts is still the wrong posts. Planning is not the same as knowing what works.

The limits

What Reel Intel is not

  • Not a scheduler or publisher. No queue, no auto-publish, no calendar that sends anything
  • Not a grid planner. There is no visual preview of how your feed will look
  • No link in bio. That is Later's territory, not ours
  • Not multi-network. It reads Instagram Reels, not TikTok, Pinterest or YouTube
  • Not a media library. No asset storage, no team collab tools
What you get

Discover, Compare, Dominate, Conquer and Custom

  • Discover reads your own account from every angle: your real benchmarks, and the formats, hooks and topics that win for you ranked by views.
  • Compare tracks one account you choose in detail: how you stack up on views and reach, and the gaps behind their best Reels.
  • Dominate tracks up to three and turns it all into 30 Days of Posts, with the hook and format for each one.
  • Conquer tracks up to ten accounts, so you can see who is winning across your market and where it is heading next.
  • Custom tracks every account you want, with a 1:1 onboarding call and priority support.

Discover: reads your own account in depth. Compare (£25 a month): adds one account you track. Dominate (£49 a month): tracks up to three and adds the full four-week plan. Conquer (£99 a month): tracks up to ten. Custom (£199 a month): tracks every account you want, with a 1:1 onboarding call. See the full breakdown on how it works or the plans and pricing.

Common questions

Later and Reel Intel, answered

Is Later or Reel Intel the better pick?

They answer different questions, so the honest answer is both, in the order you need them. Later is for planning and publishing: you lay out the grid, schedule the posts and see how they performed. Reel Intel is for deciding: it reads your Reels, works out which formats, hooks and topics are producing your views, and hands you the next month of posts to film. If your problem is that the grid is a mess and posts go out late, pick Later. If your problem is that you do not know what to film, pick Reel Intel.

Does Later tell you what to post?

Later helps you plan what you have already decided to post, and its analytics show how posts performed. What it does not do is read the Reels behind the numbers and tell you which format, hook or topic to make next. That decision is still yours, which is the gap Reel Intel fills.

Can I use Later and Reel Intel together?

Yes, and it is a common pairing. Reel Intel tells you what to film next and why, then Later is where you schedule and publish it. There is no overlap between the two: Reel Intel does not schedule or publish anything, and Later does not decide your content.

Which is cheaper, Later or Reel Intel?

At entry level they are close, but they buy different things. Later has no free plan and starts at $25 a month monthly, or $18.75 a month billed yearly, and its cheapest tier caps you at 30 posts per profile per month with three months of analytics. Reel Intel starts free on Discover, then £25 a month for Compare, which includes one tracked account. Neither is a substitute for the other, so the real question is which job you are missing.

Stop guessing. Post what works. Your own Reels already know what to post next. Our AI reads them and hands you the plan.
