How we handle your data.
Plain language. No surprises.
This Privacy Policy explains what information Reel Intel ("we", "us", "the service") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the service you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information we collect
- Account identifiers you provide. The Instagram handles you enter for analysis (your own and any competitors), and any handle you paste as a profile URL.
- Contact details. Your email address, and if you sign in with Google, your name and Google account identifier, captured when you request a report.
- Public Instagram content. Publicly available reels, captions, profile details, hashtags, and comments for the handles you submit, retrieved on your behalf to produce the report.
- Usage and technical data. Basic request information such as your browser type and the pages you visit, used to operate and secure the service.
2. How we use your information
- To generate and display your intelligence report and the AI-derived insights within it.
- To cache results so repeat reports load quickly and to manage our data-source costs.
- To contact you about your report, product updates, and your subscription where applicable.
- To maintain, secure, debug, and improve the service.
3. Third-party services
We rely on a small number of processors to deliver the service:
- A data provider retrieves publicly available Instagram data for the handles you submit.
- An AI provider powers the AI classification and narrative sections of your report. Reel captions and related text are sent for analysis.
- Google Sign-In verifies your identity when you choose to sign in with Google.
These providers process data only to perform their function for us. We do not sell your personal information.
4. Cookies
We use a small number of cookies, all strictly necessary to operate the service. We do not use cookies for advertising or third-party analytics tracking.
- Essential session cookie. When you sign in, we set a single signed session cookie so the service remembers you are logged in and can show your reports. It cannot be read by JavaScript (HttpOnly), is sent only over HTTPS in production, and expires after 30 days or when you sign out.
- Sign-in and payment cookies. When you sign in with Google or pay through our payment processor (Stripe), those providers may set their own cookies to run their sign-in and checkout flows securely. These are governed by Google's and Stripe's own privacy and cookie policies.
Because these cookies are strictly necessary to provide a service you have requested, we do not display a separate cookie consent banner. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but doing so may stop you signing in or completing a purchase.
5. Data retention
Retrieved Instagram data and generated reports are cached on our servers so reports remain fast to load and to limit re-fetch costs. Cached source data is refreshed or expires over time, and AI-derived caches are retained for up to one year. Your email and account details are kept while your account or interest is active. You can ask us to delete your data at any time.
6. Your choices and rights
- Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction or deletion of your data.
- Opt out of non-essential email by following the unsubscribe instructions or contacting us.
We analyse only publicly available Instagram content. If you believe a handle should not be analysed, contact us and we will remove the associated data.
7. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children
The service is not directed to anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date above.
